Dec 19-Jul 2 Mental Health Therapist.  Facilitated group therapy for a fifty-two week Social Skills group for Sex Offenders, a thirty-six week Anger Management based Domestic Violence Prevention Group for domestic violence offenders and batterers, and a sixteen week Substance Abuse Group.  Also provided couples, individual, and victim therapy.  Groups consisted of clinical and didactic components as well as homework.  Client base (of 76 individuals) consisted mostly of adult offenders on parole, probation and/or other corrections or court supervision as well as ex-parolees and/or ex-probationers on a voluntary basis.  Supervised by Diane M. Nov 6 Co-presented a one hour presentation of the Alternatives to Violence Project workshops as an Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) representative, to eight Case Counselors / Case Managers employed by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections who work directly with inmates in various units within the New Hampshire State Prison for men in Concord, NH.  Presented a brief history of AVP.  Demonstrated an experiential exercise by cofacilitating and processing a short exercise with the corrections employees as participants.  Discussed workshop components, coercive strategies and inmates' perceptions of mandated programs.

Jul 10 - Jan 4 Was primary caregiver for 87-year-old male who desired to remain in his home after he was diagnosed as suffering from lower back and rib fractures, onset of Alzheimer's disease, and anxiety disorders with panic attacks.  Duties included general household management, providing companionship, supervising medication, dietary planning and supervision, providing transportation to and from appointments and desired locations.  Continued as primary caregiver until the individual was able to be transitioned from his home.

Facilitated a weekly Self-Help Awareness Group until February 1998.  The group was an aftercare group consisting of incarcerated male sexual offenders and was open to those individuals who wished to continue their personal growth and practice the skills they learned from having successfully completed the various sexual offender programs offered in the New Hampshire State Prison in Concord, NH.  The groups consisted of 8-12 men who met once each week for one hour.  Supervised by Irene Lavoie, M.A.

This work was a thesis presented to Antioch University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Arts Degree.  It focused on the rehabilitation of prisoners, i.e., the factors surrounding incarcerated individuals' decisions to engage in the process of positive, personal change.

An article questioning the circumstance of there being many inmates trained as facilitators but merely a few who have continued their involvement with the Alternatives to Violence Project organization upon their release from prison.
